About

Grant Crowther’s Biography: Born and raised in Calgary Alberta, I have lived here most of my life except for a few years spent in North Vancouver, studying at Capilano College. I returned to Calgary and completed a degree at the University of Calgary, where I graduated with a BA in Religious studies, majoring in Judaism, Christianity and Hinduism. I wrote many papers while at university and gained a love of writing. My favourite topics of discussion were; mythology, superstitions and the different beliefs of the supernatural and the afterlife. I still have a great interest in these topics, so feel free to inquire. After university I worked a number of jobs, everything from Cadaver transporter for a funeral home to water transporter on the airside at the Calgary airport. But for the past five years most of my jobs have related to the real estate industry. I worked for a real estate investment company as research assistant, where I learned much about investment properties. The company specialized in multifamily and small retail/commercial complexes. From this job I have experience in calculating cap. rates, and drawing up proformas and income statements for multiplexes. I also have become proficient in obtaining information on properties through the use of a number of software and database systems, such as the MLX/CLX, SPIN, GEO-Jet, RealNet, Aurora and the Calgary Real Estate Board’s Property Database. If you want to quickly find out about a property’s history, who owned it, how much they paid and an approximation of what it’s worth, I can find it for you. After working in this field I switched to a job in the education department at The Calgary Real Estate Board. The Calgary Real Estate Board is Calgary’s municipal department of a provincial regulatory board which acts to govern and educate those who have careers in the real estate field. This job taught me more about the technical aspects of being a Realtor, what it is to be a Realtor, the duties and requirements of the job. After this I worked as a personal assistant to a commercial Realtor, and once again I focused my attention mainly to investment properties and multifamily real estate. I continued as an assistant until I felt that I had gained enough knowledge, experience and confidence to take the Realtor course myself. I have gained credible knowledge of rental properties, and along the way, I used what I have learned and the money I have earned to invest in real estate myself. I currently own and manage four rental properties which have helped me to subsidize my income while working the many different jobs I have had, they also helped to leverage me so I was able to take the plunge and become a Realtor myself. Upon joining Prudential I have decided to team up with Joseph Fogal, my good friend and now partner in this new career. With Joseph`s skills in customer service and negotiating and my knowledge of contracts, assessments, and value, I believe the two of us will make an ultimate team, providing top quality customer service for those looking to buy or sell real estate.
